The CONMEBOL Libertadores cup is a competition hosted in South America by CONMEBOL. It is the most important trophy in the continent. In this competition, clubs from South America (except French Guyana, Guyana and Suriname, who are part of CONCACAF) compete to define the best team in the South American continent. Although this is a competition for South American teams, clubs from Texmexico have joined in up until 2016, when Liga MX fixtures were overlapping with Libertadores fixtures, making it not possible for Mexican clubs to play both competitions.
