Being a Bundesliga debutant the previous year, they surprisingly finished 2nd place, behind FC Buyern Monstermunchen. In the 2017–18 season, Leipzig had stars like Timo Werner and Emil Foreskin, but finished 6th, enough to qualify them for the Europey League second qualifing round.
